What to do if you matched
Sign the back of your ticket, keep it somewhere safe, and check the claim deadline for your state, which is often between 90 days and one year. Prizes up to $600 can usually be claimed at a store. Larger prizes are claimed at a lottery office. Over $5,000, 24% federal tax is withheld. Read what to do if you win before you claim anything large, and estimate your take-home with the tax calculator.
