Nazadev

Nazadev writes and maintains LotteryTaxHub: the calculators, the state pages and the guides. Nazadev is an independent developer who has published apps on Google Play as FyoStudioDR since 2019.

Background

Nazadev builds utility and finance tools: mostly Android apps, and now this website. The work is software, data and plain-English writing. Nazadev is not a tax professional, an accountant or a lawyer, and the site never claims otherwise. That is why every page says its figures are estimates, why each rate comes with a source and a date, and why the guides tell winners of large prizes to talk to a tax professional and a lawyer before they claim.

Why this site exists

When a jackpot passes a billion dollars, millions of people ask the same question: how much would I actually keep? The answers online were often out of date, or they contradicted themselves: one rate in the text and another in the math, or a state table from years ago. LotteryTaxHub tries to give one clear, dated answer for every state, with the source next to it, and to say plainly when a number is not checked yet.

How each rate is checked

  1. Federal figures (24% withholding over $5,000, the 37% top rate and its 2026 brackets, the $2,000 Form W-2G threshold) come from IRS publications and form instructions.
  2. State rates are read on the state's own department of revenue site, or in the state's statute, never from a blog or an old comparison table. The source and the date it was checked are listed on that state's page.
  3. Not checked yet means not used. Until a state's rate is checked, the calculator labels it "being verified" and shows federal tax only. It never fills in a guessed rate.
  4. Prize charts and game rules come from the games' own sites and state lottery pages. Claim deadlines and other claim facts in the "Won in your state?" sections come only from the state lottery's or the state's own pages, each with its link.
  5. Every change is dated. Rate changes and corrections are listed in the corrections log.

The full formulas, and what the calculator leaves out, are on the methodology page.
